Creators of Living Media Brands

Welcome to the SSFilms Group website

SSFilms Group - comprising of Web TV production arm Surridge Screen Films Ltd and the screen acting training Star Schools Ltd - aims to revolutionise interactive media, defining the potential of what Internet TV can be.

The company will create free to view ‘living media’ brands which will broadcast over the Internet and other emerging broadcast platforms, empowering viewers as their interactivity with our shows becomes a key part of their lives.

We also aim to make entry into and progression in the new media landscape accessible to all, allowing the very best UK talent to be easily identified, developed and showcased via our productions.

CHALKHILL logoOur launch product is set to commence filming in January 2009 and will begin broadcasting on leading Internet websites in Spring 2009. Called CHALKHILL, this pioneering interactive Internet soap opera will dramatise the contemporary lives of a number of different families living in backwater Britain. Viewers will be able to fully engage with the production on numerous levels, communicating with the cast and production team via website forums and message boards; suggest storylines taking events from their own lives, helping shape the drama they view; and even star in the show as a supporting or lead character after attending our STAR SCHOOLS screen-acting training workshops that will launch across the UK in 2009.

Group history

Steven SurridgeSSFilms Ltd was formed in September 2000 by Managing Director Steven Surridge to capitalise on the business opportunities surrounding broadband Internet TV. A University drama course graduate and experienced TV Producer, Steven has worked on terrestrial TV shows such as Brookside, Taggart and The Bill. He has also made films for HRH Prince Charles.

In 2001 the company began developing its interactive Internet TV programme concept, launching in summer 2003 the UK’s first community produced soap opera: CHALKHILL LIVES. Star Schools Ltd was established as a subsidiary company in 2007.
